What type of boiler do you currently have?

Most boilers in Ireland are System boilers. Changing from your current boiler type to a different one, such as System to a Combi, can increase costs substantially.

System

About System boilers
A System boiler has a pressure gauge on the front of the boiler (or beneath it) attached to one of the valves. This type of boiler heats a hot water cylinder which is normally located in a hot press.

Combi

About Combi boilers
A Combi (Combination) boiler has 5 (or more) pipes coming out of the bottom of the boiler. It heats water directly from the mains when a tap is turned on, so it doesn’t need tank or cylinder. If you turn on a tap while having a shower then the shower pressure may drop.

Standard

About Standard boilers
Standard boilers are also known as Regular, Traditional, Conventional or Heat-only. They are fed by a tank (usually in the loft) and store hot water for later use in an insulated cylinder (often found in a hot press).

Back Boiler

About Back boilers
The boiler is usually located in the living room behind the fireplace
